About GCU’s Back-to-School Presentation
Since 2024, the International Students Office of Fudan University has been recruiting student ambassadors to build the ‘Global Connect U’ (GCU) team. Coming from different countries and backgrounds, they are united under the shared identity of FDUers, planning and hosting online & offline admissions promotion activities. During winter and summer vacations, GCU members take the initiative to go back to their high schools/universities in their home countries where they hold “Study at Fudan” presentations. It is a great platform to share their exciting Fudan experiences and provide useful information for junior students about studying in China and at Fudan University.
Hightlights of former presentations

About My Presentation
Why participating in Study at Fudan Presentation ?
Coming from Kazakhstan, where many talented students have limited access to international education opportunities, Ulmana believes that it is important to share knowledge and encourage others to pursue their academic goals. She hoped to show students that with determination and support, studying abroad can become a real possibility.
Before the Presentation
For Ulmana, the most effective way to reach schools was through personal connections with teachers and professors. Contacting schools directly through faculty members helped organize the presentations efficiently. Preparing clear and concise presentation materials about Fudan University and sharing personal experiences studying in China also helped attract more students to attend.
Since students were more interested in programs with scholarships, Indra attached more attention to information about scholarships. Some students were also eager to know what makes Fudan stand out, so she included more slides about unique “only Fudan” things, such as clubs and information fairs.
During the Presentation
Nadiya Aldhaheri enjoyed the interaction with students, which made the presentation more like an open discussion.
Many students recognized Ulmana, so the meeting was not without warmth. The situation was quite homely, no rigour. There were a lot of jokes, and interest was visible in the students' eyes.
Studying in China is not yet so popular in Kazakhstan, so the listeners were surprised by the differences in the academic system and the modern approach to study. One of the professors was so curious about everyday life in China that he asked Ulmana lots of questions about the cultural differences between Kazakhstan and China.
Indra heard a lot of students saying, “Let’s go to Fudan to study”. Everybody seemed to be so impressed. The students got a little bit of motivation after knowing that someone from their high school is studying at Fudan.
Thoughts on the Presentation
Nadiya Aldhaheri gained some networking skills and enjoyed helping others understand Fudan University.
For Ulmana, the back-to-school presentation is part of her life mission, helping people and leading them to their goals. This experience was not only a presentation about Fudan University but also an opportunity to inspire students in her home country to explore international education and broaden their academic horizons.
Indra had a great time interacting with her fellow juniors. The program offered a great opportunity for students to get information and motivation from someone who is studying at Fudan.
